In the heart of Norway's stunning coastal nature
At the far end of the sea gap lies the mysterious island of Runde, home to northern Europe's southernmost bird cliff. With only 100 permanent residents, the island comes alive from April to August as tourists worldwide visit. You can encounter colourful puffins nesting alongside sea eagles, ospreys, and thousands of other seabirds at the bird cliff. Runde is also famous for discovering the East India vessel Akerendam, which was wrecked at Kvalneset in 1725. In 1972, three divers recovered the most significant gold treasure in Norwegian history.
